Paris, France

Paris is best seen during the Springtime. The temperature is a perfect 65 to 75 degrees, making it excellent weather for walking. Bring a pair of comfortable shoes because you'll be doing a lot of walking. In Paris everyone raves about the Eiffel Tower, granted the view is eye catching, but I thought it looked like a mishmash of steel beams. The attraction I was mesmerized by was the Arc de Triomphe. It's best to see the Arc during the night when you can see all the lights colliding to make a spectacular light show. When your there be sure to see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier that was placed there in 1921 during World War I. When you stroll down the Champs- Elyse'es  to the Arc de Triomphe you are strolling down the grandest thoroughfare in Paris. The Champs-Elyse'es rivals New York's Fifth Avenue and London's Bond Street. The name Champs-Elyse'es translates to field of dreams.  There are many outdoor cafes where people can sit and watch the ever changing scenery. Depending on what time of night your there it may be hard to get a table. There are a couple of tourist shops, but not to many to take away from the ambiance. Walking down Champs-Elyse'es from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde was the emotional highlight of my visit to Paris. The Place de la Concorde is a major square in Paris at the eastern end of Champs-Elyse'es. The Place was constructed to hold an equestrian statue of Louis XV. The Place has many statues and majestic fountains in the square. Paris has many gilded buildings that in themselves are works of art which display much detail in the work on the buildings that can be seen today.
