How to go Flounder Fishing

Flounder fishing can be very fun and exciting. The best time to go flounder fishing is in the very early morning or at dusk. It's usually calmer in the morning. The best bait for flounder fishing is squid and minnows, they love this combination. You want to cut the squid into long thick pieces. You also need to troll for flounder, so you should pick a spot where there aren't any obstructions.  Fishing for flounder requires you to fish on bottom, because their a bottom feeder. Your going to want a weight at about two pounds on your rod to be sure it stays on bottom.  When you feel a bite on your rod, let the fish take the line, then feed it slack, slowly, and wind the fish into the boat. Many people will instinctually jerk the rod , don't do it, you'll lose the fish for sure.  If you let the flounder take the bait then you'll catch it. You must have a moving tide when you flounder fish. If the tide is not moving or dead you definitely won't catch any fish. The reason being is your bottom fishing. The bait should move across the bottom, not stay in one place. If the bait stays in one place, as in a dead tide, all you'll catch are blue crabs. The right tide is the most important aspect of flounder fishing, without it you might as well not even go fishing your wasting your time.
