Nashville Nightlife

Nashville is a city rich with culture and famous for its music scene. Nashville nightlife consists of some very popular music venues and clubs.

One historic music venue in Nashville, Tennessee is Exit/In, a venue that opened in 1971. The almost entirely black interior and exterior are characteristic of this smaller building that has had performers such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Johnny Cash, and The Police play there. The film Nashville even features the club, and, though the club is far from the swankiest or most up-to-date venue in town, its historic presence has kept it popular throughout several generations despite some financial setbacks. One particularly notorious performer was comedian Steve Martin, who perfected his stand up routine at the venue. He was also at least partially responsible for helping the venue obtain a reputation of being wild and unusual.

The Belcourt Theatre is another historical spot and earns high recommendations as a top Nashville nightlife location. This independent movie theater and music venue originally opened as a silent movie house in 1925, and has since functioned as a playhouse before turning back into a movie theater. Notable about this theater besides its age and variety of uses is that it features a full bar. The theater enjoys showing classic films in addition to more recent independent films. Even the theater's lobby defies convention, as it displays local artists' work. The Belcourt Theatre is truly an amalgamation of various art forms.
